SHIP OWNING

The company became a vessel owner for the first time in December 2002, with the acquisition of a 586 TEU RORO boxer class container ship, christened M.V Kripa. The vessel was subsequently sold in March 2009.

In August 2007 we acquired our second vessel, a 1172 TEU container carrier that was christened M.V Kanivu. She operated between the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East until her sale in 2011.

M. V. Karuthal, the 1600 DWT cargo vessel registered in Saint Kitts and Nevis was indigenously built by Century Shipyard (P) Ltd, and designed by Navtech Designs for Trans-Asian Shipping Services (Pte) Ltd, Singapore. Her keel was laid in August 2007 and she was launched in December 2009.

She has a capacity of carrying 94 TEUs with the basic dimensions of 67.5 m length, 12.5 m breadth, 5.5 m depth and 3.2 m loaded draft. The vessel can touch a speed of 9.3 knots powered by 2 x 640 HP Cummins diesel engines. It can carry general cargo in addition to containers.

The multi-purpose container vessel was designed for service along the coast to call at major and minor ports with a loaded draft of 3.2m. She currently operates in the Middle East with the long term goal of operating along the Indian coastline. All the 3 vessels are retired.
